Our FFA Chapter has started the year off running! The chapter kicked things off with the Avon Fat Steer Show and the Abingdon Community Festival before traveling to BHE with nine freshmen for the Greenhand Conference.
On September 11th, the chapter hosted its first-ever Tornado Alley Livestock Classic, welcoming more than 70 students and teachers to Abingdon to evaluate cattle, pigs, sheep, and goats.
The following Friday, September 18th, seven students traveled to JWCC for their annual livestock judging contest. With more than 80 teams competing, our team came ready to show up and show out, earning an impressive 2nd Place Finish.
The chapter didn't stop there! On Tuesday, members enjoyed a visit from Illinois FFA State Vice President Collin Johnson. The chapter wrapped up the week with another exciting accomplishment, earning 1st Place in the Section 4 Ag Sales Contest, hosted right here at Abingdon-Avon High School last night!
The team will compete again on October 28th. We are so proud of the hard work, dedication, and accomplishments of our members so far this year. And if this is how we've started the year, we can't wait to see what's next!
