Mrs. Kolls class had some very special visitors today to share about first grade through the decades. Special guests today, Diane Potts and Karen Miller former teachers of Mrs. Koll.


5B was "caught doing Kagan" today with Follow the Leader groups!!




We had such an exciting day today! Our reading stations are beginning to start up. The kiddos are learning and practicing through play and learning to clean up on their own and choose a new activity, challenging our skills with identifying letters and our sounds. We also got to check out our new addition! We are SO EXCITED to begin going to see Mr. Beebe and Mrs. Anderson in their new rooms!


Today School Board Member, Kyle Thurman came to read his favorite children's story, There's NO such thing as a Dragon, to our Begindergarten class.



HGS Drop Off Notes for 2nd Semester.

All games and practices scheduled for today, January 21, 2025, have been canceled due to the cold weather conditions. Stay safe 🥶
Due to projected extreme cold temperatures tomorrow, there will be no school for Abingdon-Avon 276 on Tuesday, January 21st. Please stay warm and safe.
Begindergarten students have been working so hard in our understanding of what it means to be responsible. Responsibility is when we take care of something by ourselves without being told to do so. For the weekend, students chose their own task of practicing responsibility at home!

HGS students finally made it outside today for recess!!! The kiddos were so excited to get to play on the 3-5 playground. It has been a year and half since they have been able to play on the 3-5 playground!

There is a slight chance we will be able to go out tomorrow for lunch recess. Please make sure kiddos are bundled up. HGS K-5 students go outside when the real feel temperature is 20 degrees. Pre-K students go out when the real feel is 25 degrees or above. If we are able to go outside, students will be playing on the 3-5 playground as the K-2 playground fence is not in place on Highway 41.

4th grade snuck out to the new construction area the students were so excited and it was fun to hear them be so excited!!



Attention 4th Grade Parents and Guardians,
Recorder notes and order forms were sent home on Monday, January 13, 2025. We kindly ask you to check your child's backpack for these important documents.
This year, the cost of a recorder is $5. Students are also welcome to bring in a recorder from an older sibling at no additional cost.
Please ensure that all orders, along with payment, are submitted by January 21, 2025. Orders can be returned to Mrs. Rakestraw or the HGS Office.
If you are unable to locate the order form, you may write your child's name, class, and color choice on an envelope or a separate piece of paper.

Today in Library/Stem with Mrs. Anderson, in Kindergarten, after reading Twenty-one Elephants, the story of the building of the Brooklynn bridge, we used Keva planks to design our own bridges.
