We had the best visitors today! Mr.and Mrs. Shipplett brought their furever companion, Bentley, to school today! Mrs. Shipplett read If Dogs Ruled the World. When Bentley comes back for future visits, first graders in 1C will practice their reading skills and read to Bentley!






4th and 5th graders went to WIU today to learn all about the Lady Leatherneck's Basketball Team.

Congratulations Mrs.Anderson for being the Abingdon-Avon teacher of the month at HGS. She is presented with a $100.00 check from the Abingdon-Avon Public School Foundation.


Mr. Sloan from the Lion's Club delivered dictionaries to all 3rd graders at HGS! Thank you so much!


Mrs. Mason and Mrs. Allen working with second graders on what Bullying looks like and sounds like. Bullying has no place at HGS.


Fifth-grade science and social studies classes are studying natural disasters. As part of their experience, students worked in groups to research types of volcanoes, choose one for a project, sketch out their plan, then build a volcano. Pictured is their progress so far. Be sure to come see your fifth-graders project during parent-teacher conferences.
