New Music Google Classroom for Return to school:
Hedding Music Classes will now have a new Google Classroom. As we return to school I have found it necessary to have Music classes separate from PE. The Current AMP( Specials) Classroom will change to a PE only classroom on Monday the 28th. DO NOT DELETE THE AMP CLASSROOM.
Invitations were sent out to Hedding students ipads yesterday for their new music classroom. All students need to do is click join. With this change I am able to post grade specific lessons that will make finding lessons and loading lessons easier and faster. PLEASE do your best to join by Monday 9/28. If you have questions on how to join, your child was sent an invite to the wrong grade, or the new classroom did not pop up EMAIL ME at arakestraw@atown276.net

Please make sure your student is logged into and checking the Specials Google Classroom and Art Google Classrooms. It is important that students check in and finish assignments for these classes. The Specials (Art, Music, PE) are doing our best to make these assignments quick and easy to complete, so students will have plenty of time to focus on their core classes. Music and PE Assignments are on the AMP (Specials)Page and Mrs. Clark has a separate Art Google Classroom for each grade/teacher. If you have questions on joining these classrooms or how to find the assignments please email me (Mrs. Rakestraw) at arakestraw@atown276.net and I will do my best to help you.
One of the most common technology questions that parents and students have had is getting a message that their device is not connected to the Internet or just not being able to use any of the apps on the IPad. Typically this is an easy fix, as 90% of the time the device needs to be reauthenticated. To do this, just try to do a Google search for anything, such as "sharks", then tap "enter". If you get the authentication screen that asks for username and password, type in the username and password used when you took home the device and logged in the first time. If you have forgotten, email your child's teacher, the tech help desk or call Hedding. Once you have logged in again, you should be connected and all apps work.

Thank you Abingdon-Avon Schools Foundation! They gave every teacher $100 to purchase supplies. The Foundation has been and continues to be a great support to our teachers and schools providing money for our playgrounds, art programs, student supplies, and numerous other items and programs over the years . We certainly appreciate all they do for our students, staff and school.
Several parents have asked what Zearn is , as students K-5 will use Zearn regularly not only during remote learning, but when they return to school as well. Zearn Math is a complete math program that provides Common Core aligned math lessons, personalized to individual learners, and based on Eureka Math. Lessons focus on three critical components: deep understanding, fluency, and problem-solving. The classroom teacher assigns the daily Zearn lesson which matches the lesson the students would be learning and doing in Eureka math each day. They watch an instructional video of the skill/concept being taught before completing some of the problem set digitally they would have completed on paper if in the classroom. Unlike completing the paper copy, though, students get immediate feedback from Zearn on their answers telling them if they were right or wrong and providing reteaching of the skill for a wrong answer. Take time to watch the instructional video each day with your student to see what your child is learning in math.

Monday is the final day for United Way Meals at Rotary Park 11:00-11:45. Beginning Tuesday, the School Meal program will begin. Be sure to sign up if you intend to pick up school meals starting Tuesday.
IPad Distribution last night at Hedding. If you have not registered your student(s), please do so ASAP or call the school at 462-2363 for assistance. Remote Learning starts Monday, August 24. If you have not picked up your student’s IPad and class supplies, please contact the school as soon as you can Monday morning. If you have technology issues, contact the tech help desk at techhelp@atown276.net between 9 am and 2 pm.
